Aloha!

My name is  BillB and I am the creator of this Website and an avid birder on the Big Island of Hawaii.  I first started birding in the fifth grade in a small town in Eastern Washington and the summers in North Idaho.  I took up photography a couple of years ago at first to be sure to verify rare birds or to help to identify birds unfamiliar to me.  When I moved to the Big Island I was introduced to the beautiful Hawaiian birds and was stunned at how quickly they were being driven toward extinction.  I now have my goal to take a portrait of all of the birds found on the Island and especially the native birds.  It is a work in progress.  It is also my goal to allow YOU to see the birds at least a bit, so that maybe you will fall for them like I have.  As you can see I have made a decent start but still have a Long way to go.

I hope this site will become a go-to site for birding on the Island.  If you visit the site at least a couple times a month you will begin to see the changes taking place.  The first was to get the shots organized so that you knew what you were looking at, either an introduced bird or a native bird.  I will next be starting to isolate where the birds can be found with an overview and directions and good shots of what you can expect to find.

I will also be giving small suggestions on how to photograph the birds, this is the fun part and not always easy to do!

If you have questions or need directions please do not hesitate to contact me at wnbrynteson@yahoo.com,  as I am more than happy to help you out so that you too can enjoy this wonderful and unique birding experience.
